Case studies
Early childhood workforce strategy across a metropolitan council
A local council engaged eQIPd to develop a workforce strategy across the 60+ early childhood services which operate in its jurisdiction. eQIPd developed and deployed an online survey which staff in services completed, to collect qualification, retention and intention to stay data. In-depth interviews complemented the data collection. eQIPd examined current and planned policy settings, future demand for ECEC services in the area and developed a workforce strategy for the council.
One of the strengths of this council was its hands-on approach to supporting not-for-profit and profit services, and eQIPd was able to demonstrate how this investment pays off in terms of higher quality service provision across the LGA when compared to the sector.
Feasibility for integrated early years services in a rural area
A rural council engaged eQIPd to advise on best next steps to ensure early years services meet the needs of the community over the next 15 years. The community had recently benefitted from state government investment in a kindergarten, and the project investigated whether the increased number of available places would meet current and future requirements. Demographic analysis, including of population forecasts, community consultation, assessment of current facilities and analysis of the quickly evolving policy landscape gave council advice on a path forward.
Quality improvement planning workshop and QIP update
A community managed early childhood service engaged eQIPd initially to conduct parent and staff surveys for its service. The results showed high parent satisfaction, but some issues in terms of staff satisfaction, putting staff retention and continuity at risk. eQIPd led a worskshop with the staff and key committee members to identify priorities to be addressed and a roadmap for addressing them.
eQIPd also provided input into the service QIP to ensure the voices of families and staff were reflected in the plan.
